Regional Civil Forum of Zhambyl Region

On June 10–11, 2025, the Regional Civil Forum of Zhambyl Region was held in Taraz under the theme “Strong Society – Strong Kazakhstan.” The forum brought together representatives of the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Members of Parliament, members of the Ұлттық құрылтай (National Congress), representatives of central and local executive bodies, non-governmental organizations, the business community, and the media.
The forum was organized for representatives of civil society and served as an important platform for dialogue, exchange of experience, and the development of proposals for the implementation of the second stage of the Concept for the Development of Civil Society. Its main goal was to strengthen partnerships between the state, civil sector, and business, while supporting the country’s strategic development objectives.
On the first day, discussions centered on inclusivity and equality, engagement of vulnerable groups in public life, preparing NGOs for the professions of the future, and digital civic activity. Special attention was paid to the role of big data and artificial intelligence in advancing civic initiatives.
The second day focused on the sustainable development of the civil sector and its contribution to the achievement of the state’s strategic goals. A plenary session was held to discuss new mechanisms of cooperation with government bodies and business. Particular emphasis was placed on the development of small towns within the framework of the concept “Small Towns – Big Opportunities.” Representatives of businesses, foundations, local administrations, and resource centers reached agreements on future joint initiatives and outlined areas for further cooperation.
The forum was not only a platform for dialogue but also a venue where best practices in supporting civic initiatives were presented. Participants noted the active development of the grant financing mechanism, emphasizing that Zhambyl Region will become the first in the country to introduce non-state grants through the Civil Initiatives Support Center as a tool for sustainable development.
All recommendations developed during the regional forums will be consolidated and presented at the Republican Civil Forum, which will take place in October 2025.
