Social Project: Public Monitoring Center for SDG Implementation in Almaty

The NGO in the form of an association, “Almaty Azamattyq Alliance”, is implementing the social project “Public Monitoring Center for SDG Implementation in Almaty”, which aims to mobilize Almaty NGOs to address the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The project is carried out on behalf of the Almaty City Department of Internal Policy based on a grant from NAO “CPGI.”

Project results for 2025:

  1. A survey of 100 Almaty NGOs was conducted to identify their projects aligned with the UN SDGs.

  2. An SDG guidebook was developed.

  3. The database of social projects in Almaty for 2025 was updated.

  4. Monitoring of state social order projects in Almaty was conducted.

  5. One dashboard displaying the survey results of Almaty NGOs was developed.

  6. A verified database of NGOs was created based on the analysis of 100 NGO surveys.

  7. Training on SDG and ESG methodology was conducted for 200 NGOs and civil society representatives.

  8. A roundtable on “Inclusive Kazakhstan and Tokayev Reforms: Rebooting Human Capital in the Logic of SDGs” was held to assess the level of NGO engagement in addressing the city’s sustainable development goals. The roundtable resolution identified key barriers to objectively evaluating projects’ compliance with the SDGs.

  9. Based on the survey, roundtable, and training, an Analytical Report, a Methodological Dashboard, and a Consolidated Analytical Document were created.

  10. The interface and architecture of three functional dashboards on SDGs for Almaty NGOs were developed and published on ranking.kz.

On November 20, 2025, the final public online defense of the social project was conducted. Additionally, a survey of over 30 beneficiary NGOs in Almaty was conducted, confirming the positive impact of the project in the city.
