On February 1, meetings of the working sections of the National Kurultai were held at the Presidential Center in Astana.

I took part in the work of the “SCIENCE AND EDUCATION” section, which focused on science, higher education, education and language policy. The section was moderated by Minister of Science and Higher Education Sayasat Nurbek and Minister of Education Gani Beisembayev.

In his speech, Deputy Chairman of the National Kurultai and State Counsellor Erlan Karin outlined the main areas of activity of the National Kurultai in 2024. He also emphasized the importance of the reforms being carried out in the country. He noted that the key initiatives proposed by the President are being implemented and that members of the National Kurultai are making a significant contribution to this process. He described this as a concrete example of effective interaction between the state and society.

During the “Science and Education” section, held in an “Open Microphone” format, participants discussed pressing issues in these areas and submitted proposals to the Secretariat of the Kurultai.

For our part, we also shared our views and proposals on the development of science, ensuring the quality of higher education, and expanding the scope of use of the state language.

In particular, the following proposals were put forward:

  1. As part of the internationalization and digitalization of higher education, the Ministry of Science and Higher Education and the Ministry of Education were proposed to develop a platform using artificial intelligence tools to forecast demand for specialists in the labour market over a 3-, 5-, and 10-year horizon.
  2. As part of the Year of Working Professions, it was proposed to further update the “Zhas Maman” project and, on this basis, establish Resource Centers at colleges in cooperation with enterprises.

A number of other relevant proposals were also put forward.

The Secretariat of the National Kurultai stated that the proposals of the Kurultai members would be taken into account at the fourth meeting of the Kurultai, which will be held in Kokshetau.

This is another indication that the principle of a “Listening State,” put forward by the President, is being implemented in society, and that members of the Kurultai are raising issues of national importance that are of concern to society as a whole.

As our ancestors wisely said, “Where there is unity, there is prosperity.” Let us work together for the benefit of our country and strive to become a nation of progressive ideas and aspirations.
