– This is the new Constitution that all of us will live by, especially the younger generation. Therefore, it is important not to remain indifferent and to actively participate in the discussion and voting at the upcoming referendum, – he emphasized.

Member of the Public Council of Almaty Bogdan Dzhepka spoke about the social and human rights aspects of the constitutional changes. He noted that many existing provisions need to be updated in line with modern realities.

– The world is changing rapidly today – digitalization, artificial intelligence, and new social challenges. In this context, the changes being introduced into the draft new Constitution are timely, – he said.

According to him, the proposed amendments could make the state system more flexible and less bureaucratic, bringing government closer to citizens. He paid particular attention to the protection of the rights of people with disabilities.

– It is fundamentally important to me that the draft preserves the 30-percent quota for women and people with disabilities in the electoral process. This is a real instrument for participation and influence on the country’s social development, – Bogdan Dzhepka noted.

Member of the Public Council of Almaty Rustam Kairyев emphasized that constitutional changes are a normal international practice and require clear and accessible explanations.

– It is important to conduct awareness-raising work in an understandable format, including through the mass media, so that citizens have a clear understanding of the substance of the proposed changes, – he added.

Following the discussion, the participants expressed support for the proposed changes. It was also noted that such dialogue platforms make it possible to take into account the positions of the expert and civil society communities as part of the ongoing constitutional reform.
