72 Hours at Full Speed: WorldSkills 2026 Championship Concludes in Almaty
In summary, the WorldSkills Almaty – 2026 Championship, held from March 25 to 27 at the Atakent Congress and Exhibition Centre and at the city’s colleges with the support of Almaty Kalasy Bilim Baskarmasy, demonstrated its importance as an effective platform for developing professional skills and supporting young specialists.
More than 470 students took part in competitions across 43 skills, while an additional 14 skills were covered at college facilities, demonstrating the scale and high level of organization of the event.
The participation of more than 500 certified experts, including representatives of employers and industry enterprises, played a particularly important role, ensuring objective assessment and compliance with international WorldSkills standards. The championship covered seven key areas, ranging from construction and engineering technologies to ICT, design, and services, reflecting current labour market needs.
On the final day of the championship, participants were welcomed by Sanzhar Tatibekov, President of the Non-Profit Joint Stock Company “Talap”, who emphasized the importance of developing the technical and vocational education system and training specialists in demand in the labour market.
The career guidance component is also worth highlighting: the participation of more than 12,000 schoolchildren in the “My Future Profession” career fair gave young people an opportunity to learn more about in-demand professions and make an informed choice about their future career path.
