Today, within the framework of an initiative of the Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan for Civil Service Affairs, the first organizational meeting of the Anti-Corruption Committee under the Public Council was held.
A number of important issues were discussed, and I presented my proposals.
Indeed, effective use of public oversight mechanisms is important for fostering an anti-corruption culture. However, there are several issues in this area:
- Not all citizens are aware that any citizen of the Republic of Kazakhstan who is 18 years of age or older, has full legal capacity, and has no affiliation with religious or extremist groups has the right to participate in public oversight.
- The attitude of government bodies toward platforms such as E-Otinish, which play an important role in public oversight, is also important. There are indeed cases where some government departments provide merely formal responses to submitted inquiries. Therefore, representatives of government institutions need to improve their work in engaging and communicating with the public.
In other words, I believe that awareness-raising efforts should be carried out in two directions. There is certainly a great deal of work ahead. What is important is to unite the efforts of society as a whole.
