FIRST TIME KAZAKHSTAN EXPERT ELECTED AS A MEMBER OF THE UN GLOBAL COUNCIL PRME
In mid-June 2020, the President of Almaty Management University (AlmaU) A. Kozhakhmetov elected as a member of the UN Global Council PRME (United Nations Principles for Responsible Management Education), aimed at developing the UN Global Compact "Principles of Responsible Management Education".
Kozhakhmetov A.B. He is also the Vice President for Central Asia of the International Association for Management Development in Dynamically Developing Societies CEEMAN (headquarters in Slovenia) and a member of the National Council of Public Trust of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
PRME has been a United Nations initiative since 2007. The six principles of PRME are the implementation of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs) and corporate responsibility in educational and research programs, the involvement of business and government in educational activities, as well as the development of talented students - leaders and agents for changing the future.
More than 800 universities in the world support this initiative. Kazakhstan is represented by three universities. The oldest signatory in Kazakhstan - Almaty Management University (AlmaU) - since 2009 develops cooperation with the PRME Secretariat on global issues of interaction and development in the field of responsible management, publishes PRME commitment reports available on the UN PRME website.
The PRME Council develops strategic and policy recommendations for developing the initiative and promoting the PRME vision, which are used by the PRME office, UN Global Compact signatories and other interested parties. This year, the heads of leading universities and expert associations in the field of education became members of the PRME Council: INSEAD Business Schools (France), Ivey (Canada), Cologne (Germany), Wolongong University (Australia), Beijing University (China), Asian Institute of Management (Philippines), MBA Association (Great Britain), UNESCO, UN, etc.
Almaty Management University puts social responsibility as one of the fundamental principles of its activities. AlmaU is also a signatory to the UN Academic Impact initiative, reaffirming its commitment to UN goals. For the second year in a row, AlmaU's influence and achievements are evaluated by the Times Higher Education (THE) international rating agency in the Impact ranking. The International Association for Management Development in Dynamically Developing Societies CEEMAN awarded AlmaU Champions Awards (Champion's Award) in the field of institutional management in 2014 and responsible management education in 2017.
